When we first became intimate, William promised that I would be the only woman he would ever love. Today, we’re supposed to have our seventh wedding. William: “Camille just got dizzy. Let’s put the wedding off, Vivian. We’ll do it another day.” This was the seventh time he had put off our wedding for Camille. The first time, Camille was attacked during a business meeting, and William had to rush to save her. William: “Camille’s life is in danger, and you want me to leave her for a wedding? Jealousy has its limits, Vivian.” The second time, Camille broke her leg while skiing, and William couldn’t bear to leave her alone. William: “Vivian, the wedding can wait. Camille’s badly hurt, and she’s all alone right now.” The third time, I made sure everything was ready. I even made sure nothing could happen to Camille. The wedding was finally going ahead—until William got a phone call. William: “Camille’s drunk. Damn it! She’s surrounded by drunk guys and troublemakers. She can’t handle this alone. I have to go get her!” This would be the last time he postponed our wedding. Because next time, he wouldn’t see me at his wedding.
