Seventeen years ago, a paternity test tore a family apart. His father walked away. His mother stayed gone. At twelve, Cade was abandoned by his mother, Helena. He survived with the help of Uncle Frank Calloway. At sixteen, he dropped out of school and went to work construction. Seventeen years later, he had worked his way up from carrying bricks to running job sites. Then fate brought Helena back. She arrived as the client representative on a major downtown redevelopment project. She didn't recognize her son. Her first words? "Replace him." What she didn't know was that Cade was no longer the boy she left behind. He was the man behind the project. The man behind the company. The man signing her paycheck. A reckoning seventeen years in the making was about to begin.
